This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Removal Companies Surrey in respect of our financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains.
Removal Companies Surrey provides residential and commercial removals, packing, storage and related services throughout Surrey and the surrounding areas. We employ a combination of permanent staff and vetted subcontractors to support our services. Integrity, respect, and safety are central to how we operate, and we are committed to running our business in a responsible and ethical manner.
We recognise that modern slavery, forced labour, and human trafficking are serious crimes and fundamental violations of human rights. We understand that the logistics, transport, and facilities sectors can be exposed to heightened risk and we are committed to identifying, preventing, and addressing any such risks.
Removal Companies Surrey has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, compulsory labour, servitude, child labour and human trafficking. We do not accept, condone, or knowingly engage with any party that uses or benefits from such practices.
All employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers are required to comply with our standards. Breach of this policy may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts, and, where appropriate, referral to relevant authorities.
Our supply chain includes providers of vehicles, fuel, packaging materials, storage facilities, equipment hire, and agency labour. We expect all suppliers to uphold the same high standards that we set for ourselves and to comply with all applicable laws on labour, employment, health and safety, and human rights.
We require suppliers, where proportionate to the level of risk and spend, to confirm that they have policies and procedures in place to prevent modern slavery and that they, in turn, expect the same from their own suppliers and subcontractors.
We operate a risk-based due diligence process for selecting and reviewing suppliers. As part of this process, we may request information about working conditions, recruitment practices, right-to-work checks, and policies relating to modern slavery and human rights.
Where higher risk is identified, we reserve the right to carry out additional checks or on-site audits. These may include reviewing employment records, speaking with workers where appropriate, and examining accommodation and welfare standards. Any significant non-compliance may result in the suspension or termination of our relationship with the supplier until corrective action is taken.
Managers and staff involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management are responsible for understanding and implementing our modern slavery commitments. We provide guidance to relevant colleagues to help them recognise indicators of exploitation and how to report concerns safely.
We aim to build awareness across the business so that employees and subcontractors understand that modern slavery is not tolerated and that they have a role in identifying and challenging any suspected abuse.
Removal Companies Surrey encourages all employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to raise concerns about any suspected modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business.
Concerns can be reported to a manager or senior member of staff, or through our internal whistleblowing arrangements. Reports will be treated seriously and, as far as possible, confidentially. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated following investigation.
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process and that risks may evolve over time. We are committed to continually improving our procedures and controls to better identify, prevent, and address potential abuses.
This statement and our supporting procedures are reviewed at least annually by the management of Removal Companies Surrey. The review considers any incidents, audit findings, changes in legislation, and feedback from employees and suppliers. Where necessary, we update our policies, training, and due diligence activities to strengthen our approach.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved on behalf of Removal Companies Surrey and will be updated each year to reflect our continuing efforts to uphold human rights and ethical standards in all aspects of our operations.
